Car Insurance Jaguar (Car Insurance). Should I tell the mechanic I am not paying?Should I tell the mechanic I am not paying? March 1, 2011 we had a front brake job done. Yesterday brakes failed. Mechanic says brake line broke (came loose? split? he didn't specify)and fluid leaked and wants to charge me 75.00 for the new repair.. Should I fight this charge? Is this somewhat the mechanic's fault for not making sure the original brake line was on properly? I am really mad and don't think I should have to pay this much! you have driven the car just short of 60 days and you want to blame the mechanic? Yes, you should pay. If you don't plan on paying, tell him up front. Either he will work with you or tell you to get lost. I know what I would tell you if you did that to anyone in my shop. It's not his fault if the brake line broke. I think he's being completely reasonable. If you want your car fixed, pay, if not, dont pay. You should fight this charge, although I am not sure you go about doing such a thing. I would definitely refuse to pay. You could take it to a different mechanic to verify that the problem should have been noticed/fixed when the original brake job was completed. That's assuming you can get one mechanic to rat on another. Sorry I know you dont want to hear it but you will have to pay. I'm assuming by "front brake job" you mean you had the front brake pads changed. Changing pads does not affect the brake line failing. it just so happened that your line broke. He's not charging you again for the same repair, correct? if he charged you for new brake lines on 5/1 and is charging you for new lines again now then I would dispute it. But if he changed the pads first and now the lines broke I agree that you should pay it. The mechanic can not predict future occurrences. You paid to have your brakes replaced, any decent mechanic would have inspected the rest of the brake system for problems. If there is no apparent signs of impending failure, what would you expect him to do? I'll bet you'd whine like a puppy with its head stuck in a fence if he tried to charge you once cent more than he did for the original work. Suck it up and pay to have the hose replaced. They don't last forever. The mechanic isn't responsible for the failure. Auto parts : Tire Wash Acura 1995 . Towel Alfa Romeo 1996 . Wash Mitt Audi 1997 . Wax BMW 1998 . Wheel Brush Buick 1999 . Jaguar . How to Remove a Head Bolt on a 1984 Toyota 22REThe Toyota 22RE engine is a four cylinder, 105 horsepower motor produced between 1983 and 1984. The 22RE was the first in this series of motors to be fuel injected and was used in trucks and other applications where high RPM performance was not required. Head bolts must be removed in a particular sequence to prevent the cylinder head being warped or cracked. This is particularly important on older motors with high mileage. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench ScrewdriverUnderstanding Bolt Sequence Step by Step : 1 There are 10 head bolts on the Toyota 22RE engine and they are arranged in two rows on either side of the head. One row is on the driver side of the vehicle and the other on the passenger side. From front to back the driver side row of bolts are numbered 3, 5, 10, 8, 2, and the passenger side row are numbered 1, 7, 9, 6, 4. These numbers are the order or sequence in which the bolts must be loosened. For example, loosen bolt 1 first, then bolt 2 and so on. 2 Loosen the bolts a quarter turn or 90 degrees at a time, starting with a quarter turn on bolt one and moving successively through the sequence of bolts. When they are all loose a quarter turn go back to bolt 1 and loosen another quarter turn. Repeat this procedure until all the bolts are completely loosened. 3 Lift up the rocker arm shafts when the bolts are all loosened and remove the bolts and rocker arm shaft as a single unit. You can now lift the head from the engine. If it is stuck, there is one location close to the front of the engine where you can pry the head gently with a large screwdriver. Never push a screwdriver or other device in between the head and head gasket to pry it up as you will damage the machined surfaces. Tips & Warnings Place the head on wood blocks to prevent damaging its lower surface. ResourcesRemoving Engine Valve Covers
Jaguar . My Dodge Avenger Won't Start With a New BatteryIt can be very frustrating if you've just fitted a new battery to your Dodge Avenger and it won't start. However, in most cases you're likely to find it's a simple problem such as poor battery cable connections, or maybe you left some electrical equipment on and your new battery has gone dead. Follow a couple of procedures and you'll get your Dodge Avenger started. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Protective gloves Wrench Wire brush Voltmeter Car battery chargerCheck Battery Connections Step by Step : 1 Put on protective gloves. Open and secure the hood of your Dodge Avenger. 2 Check that the two battery cables are connected properly to the Dodge Avenger's new battery. Remove the negative cable from the terminal using a wrench, then remove the positive cable using a wrench. The cables are colored red and black and the terminals are labeled "Pos" and "Neg." 3 Clean the battery terminals and the battery cable connectors using a wire brush. Battery cable connectors get corroded and this stops the electricity from flowing correctly. 4 Replace the negative battery cable onto the negative battery terminal. Reconnect the positive battery cable onto the positive battery terminal. 5 Start your Dodge Avenger. If it starts, the problem is solved. If the engine doesn't turn over, or turns over very slowly, you need to check your battery is charged. Check Battery Charge Step by Step : 1 Use a voltmeter to check your Dodge Avenger's battery. Attach the sensor on the end of the red wire from the voltmeter onto the positive battery terminal. Attach the sensor on the end of the black wire onto the negative battery terminal. 2 Read the voltage output from the battery. If it reads between 11 and 12 volts your battery is charged, so there is another reason why your car won't start and you need to get it checked out by a professional. If the reading is less than 11 volts you need to charge your battery. The lower the reading the less power your battery has. 3 Put your battery on charge for several hours using a car battery charger. After several hours, try starting your car. If it starts, the problem is solved. If it doesn't start you need to get your Dodge Avenger checked out by a mechanic, as it's not a problem with your new battery. Tips & Warnings If you find your new battery is dead and you haven't left electrical equipment on accidently, take your battery back to the store and get a replacement. *Check whether the inside edges of the doors, hood, and trunk are neatly painted, or whether the old paint shows through. A 0O Part V: Helping Your Car Look Its Best Look for unpainted spaces around the edges of door handles, chrome, and other fittings. These parts should be removed, rather than masked, so that the paint extends under them and protects the area from rust. If inadequate masking has allowed the paint to overspray these and other unpainted surfaces, refuse to pay until the unwanted paint has been completely removed. Compare newly painted parts to other areas to be sure that the color matches the older paint exactly. Because bodywork requires such expertise, buying a new bumper or piece of trim (or locating an unflawed one at a wrecker's) is often less expensive than restoring the damaged part. Many modern vehicles have thin, relatively inexpensive body panels that are designed to be replaced rather than repaired. They crumple so easily that they're as difficult to straighten as tinfoil, and it's cheaper and easier to have a new panel installed and painted. If extensive areas of a metal car body need to be repaired, have those dam 1067

Chevrolet G-Series 1500. * nooks and crannies, and — if you're foolish enough to simply paint over it goes right on with its deadly work unseen. This imagery may seem unduly grim, but I honestly believe that, over the years, more fine vehicles have given way to the ravages of rust than have been demolished in accidents. The first line of defense against rust is to wash and wax your vehicle regularly. See Chapter 23 for tips on doing these and other cleaning chores. Checking for rust If you live in an area where the streets are still salted in winter, where it rains or snows a great deal, or near the seashore — in other words, anywhere your car is exposed to moisture and/or salt — you must be especially vigilant about detecting and getting rid of rust quickly. However, even if you live in a dry climate, you must still make a habit of checking carefully every few months. If you find rust forming, get rid of it before it can do major damage. Chapter 24: Getting Rid of Dings, Dents, and Other Hard Knocks The paint on your car is there not only for beauty, but for protection as well. Paint and clear-coat finishes help retard rust. As long as your paint job is unmarred, metal body surfaces are safe. But something as seemingly innocuous as a small scratch that nobody but you notices can spell the beginning of trouble. Check the following trouble spots: v0 Small scratches, nicks, and spots where the paint may have flaked off: Jaguar . How many kms by car from knoxville to okotoks canada?

You can find instructions in the "Priming and Painting" section later in this chapter. v0 Dark spots in the paint, which may indicate that the metal is rusting out from underneath: If you find these spots, read the following section, called "Dealing with any rust you find," to find out how to take care of the problem. V Pitted places in the paint and on the chrome and metal trim: Treat these spots with rust remover, following the directions on the package. With most rust removers, you simply apply the paste or liquid, let it work for several minutes, and then wash it off thoroughly. Look for a rust remover that's safe to use on painted surfaces, and test the stuff on a small hidden area first to make sure that it doesn't affect the color — no matter what the package says. ? ^ Another prime breeding ground for rust is anyplace on a vehicle where grime, ^~^ dirt, or salt can accumulate. These areas are usually around fenders, under trim, and so on. Pay special attention to the following places when you look for rust: * Each time you wash the car, take a flashlight and check around the fenders, in the wheel wells, and behind the bumpers. Accumulated salt, mud, and dirt will accelerate rust's growth. 0 Shine the light into the little crevices between the car body and all the trim and moldings that are affixed to it. Dirt and moisture tend to collect in these areas. Look all around the lights, the windows, the side mirrors, the sunroof, and the antenna, too. * If you live in a damp area, check the metal surfaces inside the car. Don't forget to check around the window frames. One of the most insidious places where rust forms is under your car, where you can't see it. Next time you have the car serviced, have them put it up on the hoist and check its underbody thoroughly. If you're afraid that the service people won't be thorough enough, ask your favorite mechanic to put the vehicle up and let you have a look around. (While you're at it, get the mechanic to show you all the fascinating things under there — the transmission, the oil pan, the brake lines, the emergency brake, the differential, and so on — if you don't already know where to find them. It's quite an education!) Jaguar . In what circumstance would you increase the following distance in your car?
